Qualification test

The doctoral thesis should be elaborated under the supervisor's supervision until the final writing.

The doctoral thesis should be an original research that demonstrates the scientific maturity of the candidate and contributes with new knowledge to the area.

When there is a need to change the thesis project, by some intercurrence, resubmit in the Coordinating Committee of the Program and in parallel the Scientific Committee of InCor of HCFMUSP. Requests can be made up to 12 months before the deadline for enrollment in the Qualification Examination, and upon the approval of CAPPesq, provide a copy to the Coordination Secretariat.

Examination will consist of the analysis of the credits obtained, from the presentation of the thesis project, composed of: Introduction, Material and Methods, Partial Results and Bibliographical References.

In the qualification examination, the student can be approved or disapproved, without assigning concept.

The student who fails the qualification examination may repeat it only once, in a period not exceeding one hundred and eighty days from the date of the first examination.

The examining committee will be composed of three members with a minimum degree of Doctor (a) or higher, with at least one of them being a Program Advisor.

The counselor, and / or co-counselor may not be a member of the EQ's adjudicating committee.

 

For students who did not opt ​​for the new Program Regulation

 

The enrollment for the Qualification Exam (EQ) must be accomplished when reached up to 60% of the term of the student's course, and the completion of the EQ up to 120 days after the enrollment date.     

  Registration for PhD students with master's degree: 21 months     

Registration for Ph.D. students: 28 months

Upon completion of the EQ, the student must realign the EQ upon completion of 50% of the required credits in discipline.

The examination will consist of the presentation of the progress of the thesis project, including its preliminary results. The student's didactics, their scientific maturity and the feasibility of the project will be evaluated. In the qualification examination, the student can be approved or disapproved, without assigning concept.

The student who fails the qualifying examination may repeat it only once, after a minimum of 60 days and a maximum of one hundred and eighty days counted from the date of the first exam.

The examination committee, approved by the PCC, should be composed of three members and two alternates, with at least one of the members and one alternate from outside the program.

The counselor, and / or co-counselor may not be a member of the EGQ judging panel.

 

For students who have opted for the new Program Regulation

 

The enrollment for the Qualification Exam (EQ) must be accomplished when reached up to 50% of the student's course, and the completion of the EQ up to 60 days after the enrollment date.     

Registration for PhD students with master's degree: 24 months    

Registration for Ph.D. students: 24 months

Upon completion of the EQ, the student must have fulfilled 50% of the total credits required in disciplines.
